What is the Flag of Syria?

The flag of Syria is a horizontal tricolour of green, white and black, with three red five-pointed stars centred on the white band. Its colours are green (#007A3D), white (#FFFFFF), black (#000000) and red (#CE1126), and it is flown in a 2:3 ratio.

When was the current Syrian flag adopted?

Syria's caretaker government began using this flag on 8 December 2024, after the fall of the Assad government. The Constitutional Declaration of 13 March 2025 formally designated it the national flag, and it was raised at United Nations Headquarters on 25 April 2025. It replaced the red, white and black tricolour with two green stars that the Ba'athist state had used since 1980. Source: Wikipedia, Flag of Syria.

What does the Syrian flag look like?

Three equal horizontal bands run green over white over black. Three red stars sit in a row across the centre of the white band. There is no triangle, and no emblem in the hoist.

What does the Syrian flag represent?

The design revives Syria's independence-era flag, long used by the Syrian opposition and often called the revolution flag. Green, white, black and red are the Pan-Arab colours, associated with the Arab Revolt against Ottoman rule. The three stars echo those of the independence flag.

Who Created the Syrian Flag?

No individual designer is reliably recorded for the flag adopted after December 2024. It revives Syria''s independence-era design.
